Unlocked, the latest young adult novel by Karen Kingsbury, tells a gripping story about a school plagued with bullies, a girl longing for her mother’s involvement, and an autistic boy who emerges from the depths of his own mind. When a friendship born a decade before rekindles, Ella Reynolds discovers a caring heart within herself, she didn’t know she had. One that reaches beyond the ties that bind the world in which she lives.
I found Unlocked engaging, and uplifting. It sheds hope on some of life’s most difficult situations without talking down to the young adults of this generation. And despite the YA tag–I would recommend this book to any age. Truly inpiring. Truly a joy to read.
